Hello Hello Charles Street Friends and Family,
This month I would like to talk about summers at Charles Street! We would like to mix things up a bit. We believe that we have an absolutely wonderful program but that it’s ALWAYS a work in progress. This helps us work together and hold it as a priority to give and receive feedback. Without considering our performance and discussing it, how could we get even better!? Well, that brings us to the present discussion: summers at Charles Street. In our Student Activities group, we’ve had two initial meetings to discuss the summer schedule. There is a representative from every classroom in this group. While we are responsible to continue to work very hard with our students during the summer months in the areas of reading, writing, math, behavior, and social skills, the precious summer months offer an opportunity to mix it up. We believe it is critical to take advantage of the short months of nice weather and provide increased opportunities for recreational and community participation. We are working together to plan a “Summer Camp” atmosphere, rather than simply a different “summer schedule” for each classroom this year. We will likely have a variety of theme weeks, such as International Week, Camping Week, Music and Arts Week, among many others. The work has just begun, but you should expect to see some information from your child’s teachers throughout the month of May. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. And please stay healthy, we’ve sent home information about the Swine Flu.
